Cathedral Court.

In the centre of Chelmsford, Cathedral Court is the result of collaboration with our client to restore and creatively extend a former magistrates court originally designed by renowned Essex Architect Frederic Chancellor. We resolved the internal planning issues to convert the building into 7 apartments utilising the existing structure with contemporary extensions to the rear, providing additional accommodation and amenity terraces to the duplex penthouse apartment. The practice worked with the local authority in this sensitive conservation area to develop a complementary language for the new insertions using a palette of colourful Trespa panels and diamond pattern zinc cladding.
